The second big 3D Mario Action-Adventure game after Super Mario 64. This game isn't a sequel in any form, just another 3D Mario hit from Nintendo.
The game takes place on an island. There are mini-worlds you can enter just like in Super Mario 64, in the mini-worlds you do missions for Shine Sprites, just like in Super Mario 64 for stars.
Jump around and have fun, a 3D Platform is the definition of this game.
The "catch" of the game is Mario has a waterpack on his back.
This allows him to shoot water at enemies and muck in the game, you control the aim of the waterpack with the c-stick. You can also float for a period of time with the waterpack, as well as a couple extra features.
Yoshi is in this game, you can jump on him, and ride around on him. Bring back the experience from Super Mario World now in a 3D World.
Super Mario Sunshine sold well, and is a solid fun title, but never got the acclaim as Super Mario 64 did, people compare the titles, and most say Sunshine just doesn't stack up.
