A new type of venture into the Mario RPG realm. This game has alot more of an action element, especially since you need to have quick reflexes when you battle. Unlike the other Mario RPGs where you start as Mario and other characters join your team, you play as just Mario and Luigi from basically the start. Travel across a decent sized area, buying items, talking to people, solving different types of puzzles, and battling in a turn-based system. The turn-based battle system is where the game leaves the normal realm of Mario RPGs. You still have a basic battle attack, but in place of special attacks are Bros. Attacks, in which Mario and Luigi team up for the attack, these require use of Bros. Points. While doing these moves you have to click the a and b buttons in a certain order at a precise time,
you can select before you attack the difficulty of the attack, which will make it harder to press all the buttons at the right time. But if you do, the attacks force will be greater.
You also have the ability to dodge enemy attacks, as you can make Mario and Luigi jump by pressing a and b. This can make the game much easier if you can get it down.
When walking around the world, you control both Mario and Luigi,
one button will control one, and another button the other. They will get moves in the world environment, jump moves, attack moved, etc.
Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga is a new type of Mario RPG, which has spawned a sequel for the DS, and is sure to spawn many more.
