Mario Kart 64 Review
Introduction:
Mario Kart 64 is my favourite game in the series, with perfectly designed tracks, great powerups, amazing graphics, solid mechanics, this game is a sure hit.

Gameplay:
Race 7 others in 16 different tracks, divided by 4 cups. Each track is in beautiful 3D, with vibrant colours, a variety of enemies, a cool design in great Mario Style. You can race as either Mario, Luigi, Princess, Yoshi, Bowser, DK, Toad, and Wario. So just race around in some fun courses trying to speed by your opponents and blast them with items. Shoot Red and Green Shells to make racers spin-out, throw banana peels behind and in front of you to make them slide out of control, use Mushrooms for Speed Bursts, Lightning Bolts to shrink drivers, and more. Items can be acquired through-out each track at designated areas, there will be a group of "?" floating, drive through one and get an item.

You can race against CPU Players in a Grand Prix, verse up to 3 others in the tracks, or just race by yourself and try and get a great time.

Racing is just a blast, very easy to get into this game, just drive and use items if you get them, try and turn around corners sharply with help of the R Button, and even find shortcuts in some tracks. The game is solidly built, with fun unique tracks and racers which all drive a bit differently, so you can find one you like, master it, and try another.

The Battle Mode in this Mario Kart is the best in my opinion. Huge arenas to battle in, with platforms to move up to different levels. In battle mode freely roam around these arenas, getting items to attack the other players, first to get hit 3 times loses. This can be incredibly fun, addicting, fast paced and can steal alot of time without you and your friends even realizing it.

The gameplay is simply perfect for this game, I can't picture them being able to make it better.

Gameplay 10/10

Graphics:
They took full use of the power of the N64. The racers look just beautiful, and the way they move and turn when driving looks just fantastic. The tracks are amazing, colourful and well made with a vast variety to look at, with different contrasts, colours, and environments.

Graphics 9.5/10

Sound:
They did a great job with the sound. The sound fx couldn't be better, with the driving sounds, items being used, and the sounds each character makes when they get hit and even selected on the player selection screen. The background music throughout the game is just perfect, blending in splendidly with the track environment your on, all in all they did a fantastic job.

Sound 9/10

Challenge:
There are different speeds in this game, so when you first play the game and get to 150cc, you will notice a decent challenge, before that it will be fairly easy. But 150cc can be hard at times for the first time players, especially special cup. You can even up the challenge a bit by selecting a character you're no used too. Although, if you play it over and over for years, it will only be a challenge when you're versing another human, and if you are, well every race can be a fun challenge. You can also just keep trying to get a better and better score on Time Trial.

Challenge 7/10

Replayability:
This game can be replayed over and over and over and over. I've been playing this game for years and still have fun with it. It really also helps alot if you have a friend to play it with, when I replay this game with my brother and we race in tracks and battle in arenas, I have just as much fun as I did when I first played this game years ago.

Replayability 9/10

Frustration:
It doesn't get frustrating by being really hard, and you have to replay a hard track or cup over and over, but frustrating by how the games works.
You can drive perfect the whole game, be in first the whole game, but at the end someone can quickly shoot a red or blue shell at you and just pass by and win. That can be frustrating.

Frustration 4/10

Value:
This game is worth every penny. When it was brand new it was well worth it, and now years later that it's cheaper it's worth it even more.

Value 10/10

Overall:
Overall this is a magnificent game, with beautiful graphics throughout, the driving mechanics are wonderful, the sound is great, the battle arena mode is addicting fun. This game can provide hours of entertainment, and is just amazing when played with others.

Mario Kart 64 9.5/10

Conclusion:
This game is an amazing title, just showing off how amazing the N64 is, and how well made its games are. I've played this game over and over, spent so much money re-renting it before I finally bought it. This game is a perfect racer.
